What is "A Wilderness Night Scare" about?
Have you read of a black bear mauling a victim who was overnight camping?  And then you went mountain wilderness tent camping a few weeks later in the same campground?  On edge and hair triggered, you listen for night sounds as they seep through the canvas wall of the tent.  You are ready to reach for a flashlight and leap from your sleeping bag with each ruckus. Or maybe you missed out on such an exploit.  This story tells of Jerome, a Cub Scout, in his first campout just after he lost his father, an Air Force pilot who had been shot out the sky in Iraq.  Jerome was looking for adventure to help him forget his grief. Finding far more than he anticipated, survival was his first thought.  As you read this, it may be that you will forget a trouble or two, too.
